Get to know our Snowdog Artist Katie Quinn!

Katie Quinn, illustrator, came to visit us recently and it was great to meet with her in person and show her around Made By Cooper Headquarters, and to have a good chat about the process of painting Snowdog Nelly, as well as finding out a little more about the artist behind the Snowdog design!

1. Tell us a little about you and your background as an artist?

I'm Katie and I'm an artist and illustrator. I'm originally from Leeds but now live in Edinburgh, and I've always loved drawing and painting. I've been a freelance artist for over ten years, and have lots of different kinds of work in my portfolio, including editorial illustration, comics, and murals. I especially love painting with acrylics and making patterns using my drawing tablet.

2. What made you want to get involved with this art trail event?

I was keen to get involved with the Snowdogs Kirklees art trail because I think it's a wonderful way to raise money and awareness for a brilliant charity like The Kirkwood. As well as encouraging charitable donations, it also enables people to see art out and about in their community; and I love that the smaller 'pup' sculptures have been adopted by local schools in the area.

3. What is the inspiration behind your Snowdog design 'Nelly'?

My design was inspired by different landmarks in the Kirklees area, such as the Lockwood Viaduct. I chose them because of their beauty and historical significance, and also because I have really fond memories of visiting these places when I was a kid. My design is called 'Nelly' after my lovely Auntie Nell who is now in her 90's, and always has a good story to tell of the places she's been around Yorkshire (and the world!) so I thought this would be a fitting name for my Snowdog design.

We made a collection of 3 Enamel Badges to collaborate with Snowdog artist Katie Quinn. A great souvenir of the Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees event and purchasing these badges will also help raise funds for The Kirkwood, as we'll be donating all proceeds to this fantastic charity!

We've created three collectable pin badges inspired by elements of our sponsored Snowdog Nelly, featuring some of the prominent landmarks of Huddersfield - The Train Station, Castle Hill and Lockwood Viaduct.

On sale for a limited time only, don't miss out on collecting the complete Snowdog-themed badges!
