Pin Badge Collab - The Day of The Doctors & Designers

“Lives change worlds. People can save planets or wreck them. That’s the choice. Be the best of humanity.” - The Thirteenth Doctor

Every once in a while, if we're lucky, most people get to experience something unexpected that changes our world forever.

For two of our clients, Dr Jamie Gallagher and Stevie Brocksom, their world-changing events were almost identical but occurred at separate times.

Like some kind of alternate universe Doctor Who episode ...

For both of these champions of equality and acceptance, the products they designed were worn by the 10th Doctor, David Tennant, in public appearances that blew up the awareness of their fundraising organisations beyond anything they had ever thought possible.

We're proud to say (and not at all modest) that we've worked with both of these exceptional humans to help bring their designs to life. We made, and continue to produce, Dr Gallagher's Police Box badges (including the pin badge David Tennant wore on TV), and while we didn't produce the Stevie's Safe Spaces t-shirt that David sported in public, we've helped Stevie design an manurfacture thousands of pin badges to help him raise funds for charity.

So we thought ... why not get them together?

Two

"Love, in all its forms, is the most powerful weapon we have. Because love is a form of hope. And like hope, love abides. In the face of everything" - The Twelfth Doctor

While writing the Stevie's Safe Spaces blog, our marketing team had the brilliant idea of bringing the two creators together to collaborate on a design for a charity badge.

So we contacted the Doctor Who-loving pair and asked the question ...

"If you two collaborate to come up with a special pin badge design, we'll make the badges, and then you can donate the proceeds to a charity of your choice. Are you in?"

Needless to say, they were both thrilled to get involved.

We left them to it while they got their heads together, plotted, and schemed their way to coming up with the simple yet striking idea of combining their two most popular products, the Stevie's Safe Spaces pin badge and the iconic LGBTQ+ & Trans flag TARDIS pins.

The "partners in crime" (check out us, with our Doctor Who episode knowledge) passed their idea to our design team, who immediately got to work. After a few rounds of edits, everyone agreed that the pins were ready for production.

We think the final product is even better than even we imagined.

“Every great decision creates ripples, like a huge boulder dropped in a lake. The ripples merge and rebound off the banks in unforeseeable ways. The heavier the decision, the larger the waves, the more uncertain the consequences.” - The Seventh Doctor

Stevie reflected on his journey so far,

"When David Tennant wore my shirt, I was told about a pin he once wore that went viral and raised lots of money for charity. That's when I realised the magnitude of what was happening with my shop."

"Sale after sale, and it never slowed down. It allowed me to design and have pins manufactured. It was absolute kismet (that means 'fate' - yeah, we had to look that up) that I chose Made by Cooper."

"A year later, I have done three different pins for my shop, and my wedding favours are also pins from Made By Cooper."

"When they reached out to tell me that they also work with Dr. Jamie Gallagher, the creator of the infamous TARDIS pin that went viral, and offered to connect us and support a collaboration, there was no question in my mind that we needed to do it!"

“Never be cruel. Never be cowardly. Hate is always foolish. Love is always wise. Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind.” - The Twelfth Doctor

If you'd like to buy one (or more!) of these fantastic rainbow or trans safe spaces pin badges, you can visit Jamie's Store (which delivers to the UK, Norway, and Switzerland) or check out Stevie's online shop (which delivers to the United States and Canada).

Proceeds from the sale of these amazing pins will be going to The Albert Kennedy Trust (Jamie's choice) and The Greyson Jones Memorial Scholarship (Stevie's choice). These two charities are worthy causes that help people in the LGBTQ+ community to tackle life and face challenges that would not exist in a more loving and understanding society.
